Demonstration project
federal housing grants are intended to help teams change regulations and construct or renovate a building to show how new ideas in design, technology, planning or servicing can lower costs or meet special
housing needs.
Demonstration projects must include actual construction or renovation to be considered for the maximum
federal housing grants program, for the amount of $20,000.
Housing projects that do not include construction or renovation will be considered for
federal housing grants up to $10,000. Examples of previous ACT demonstration projects include the construction of a convertible house, the renovation of rooming houses using alternate renovation standards, and the construction of infill housing.
